Mecklenburg County Jail

Meals

Interview with Mary

JM: How many meals did you get per day?
Mary: we got 3 meals and occasionally a snack cart would come around and we could purchase some stuff on there if we had the money in our accounts to do so.

JM: How would you rate the food?
Mary: on a scale from 1 to 10 i would rate it as a 4. it was nothing good, but it was doable. it was enough to get us through and have us survive.

JM: Did you have any favorite/least favorite meals?
Mary: i would say all the meals were my least favorite. i didn't care for a single one of their meals and would have rathered eaten bread for the entire time I was in there.

JM: Were there any other snacks offered outside of meals?
Mary: Whatever you could get off the snack cart that came around if you had the money in your account to buy them.

they're many people who are place into the system that doesn't belong there and they're some who has adapt and has made the system a way of life. I feel that no matter what a person's situation is that we should all be treated with some kind of respect, our meals are very important why should people be fed crap just because they're in a certain situation. The food that is serve in jails I don't think anyone working in the system would eat or feed it to they families not even they dogs, why should it be fed to inmates because they can't do any better. The system is very unfair and some day we shall be judge by a higher POWER for how we treat each other whether they're GOOD OR BAD, RIGHT OR WRONG.
